Frequently Asked Questions
Ballantyne Advanced Chiropractic Offers Answers to Common Questions
Like other Ballantyne chiropractors, we hear many questions from new and current chiropractic patients. Here are some of the most common questions and answers…
Do chiropractic adjustment hurt?
Most chiropractic adjustments are not only painless, they actually feel great and relieving. Occasionally with a recent injury, inflamed tissue may react to adjustments and cause some discomfort. Furthermore, the adjustment is addressing vertebral subluxations which may have been present for years, or more often, decades. We recommend the application of ice after the treatment to reduce the irritation.
What is the popping sound that I hear when I get a chiropractic adjustment?
The popping sound that you sometimes hear when you get a chiropractic adjustment it is simply gas being released from the fluid between each of the joints in your spine. It’s not the bone cracking! Not all adjustments create this popping sound, so the effectiveness of an adjustment should not be judged by the presence or loudness of the sound.
I’m not in pain, should I see a chiropractor?
Yes! You don’t have to have symptoms to have underlying problems. Only 10% of your nerve fibers sense pain, so pain is a very poor indicator of improper function in the body. Many health problems manifest without any symptoms. There are many stories of people who seemed healthy and exercised daily, yet unexpectedly suffered a heart attack. The underlying problem was there even if outward symptoms were not.
Is there an age requirement or age limit for chiropractic patients?
No! Anyone with a spine should see a chiropractor – young, old and anyone in between. Dr. Usher treats infants, toddlers, children, teenagers, adults and the elderly and tailors the treatment to the individual.
Do you accept my insurance?
Ballantyne Advanced Chiropractic accepts all major medical insurance. We are happy to consult your insurance company to confirm what, if any, chiropractic benefits are available under your plan.
Can chiropractic care help pregnant women?
Yes! Because Pregnancy places additional weight and stress on women’s bodies, chiropractic treatment can be very beneficial. Adjustments can help relieve low back, leg, neck and shoulder blade pain associated with pregnancy.
